The Grants and Contracts Associate initiates, coordinates, and organizes the research operations for the Department of Physical Therapy. This role includes all aspects of research administration and operations including proposal, grant, contract and subcontract development, pre-award submission and post-award grants management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review grant and contract solicitations to complete appropriate internal and external documentation for research application submissions.
  • Assist PIs with budget development for grant and contract submissions. Create, process and route appropriate proposal budget and related materials through the University systems.
  • Complete administrative sections of grant and contract applications and review final applications to verify accuracy prior to submission.
  • Track and report all effort associated with sponsored research awards.
  • Manages research staff HR and research Space.
  • Manage requests for no-cost extensions, progress reports, prior approval, and grant closeouts.
  • Coordinate and complete documentation for Just-In-Time submissions.
  • Coordinate and complete subcontracts.
  • Review Notice of Award (NOA), account assignment forms, and budget to verify accuracy and revised budgets to match the awarded amount.
  • Review and/or initiate all purchasing and travel for all sponsored projects and maintain compliant records of all purchases/grant expenditures.
  • Verify and adjust expenditures for financial reports to be submitted to external funding agencies in accordance with the terms and conditions of the awards.
  • Generate monthly reports for PIs and ensure budgeted personnel and monthly expenditures are appropriately charged to each project.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position
  2. Additional knowledge, education, training and/or sponsored project experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:


Preferred Qualifications
1. A minimum of three years’ experience in research setting with at least two years of those years performing financial reporting, grants and contracts administration, or research management.
2. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of research administration and financial management.
3. Knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
4. Certified Research Administrator certification. (CRA)
