Job Summary

The Head eSports Coach (part-time) is responsible for the overall coordination of the College of Lake County intercollegiate eSports program. CLC is an affiliate of the NJCAA, NJCAAE, and the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference.

Required Qualification
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a successful coach.
  • Knowledge of NJCAAE Bylaws.
  • Technical knowledge of esports.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong desire to recruit a full and competitive roster.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Summary of Essential Functions

Essential Functions Include:
  • Oversees all aspects of the varsity, competitive club, recreational club, and daily operations of the esports program. This is to include but not limited to: sponsored games, special events, and facility reservations.
  • Recruits highly capable student-athletes, while championing academic success.
  • Programs and conducts strengthening and conditioning programs for student athletes, while working in conjunction with the athletic training staff for injury prevention and recovery.
  • Manages team within the framework of established budget by making recommendations to the Director of Athletics to purchase equipment/apparel, uniforms, supplies and/or other services.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates esports programming, including sponsored games, open recreation gaming, special events, leagues, camps, and tournaments.
  • Collaborates with the Athletic Departments’ Events and Operations Coordinator to ensure appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours, events, and operating schedule for esports room.
  • Adheres to all athletic training policies and procedures.
  • Performs administrative tasks and completes requests for information as assigned.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • In conjunction with Director of Athletics, coordinated team fundraising and promotes alumni and community engagement through various programming and outreach.
  • Oversees all equipment maintenance, ordering and repairs for the esports gaming room.
  • Enforces department and team expectations regarding general standard of behavior for student-athletes.
