Description
The Department of Physical Therapy at Hampton University invites applications for two full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. These are 12 month positions. The DPT program was established in 1998 and received initial accreditation in 2002. The Department is located in facilities equipped with clinical and research laboratories, dedicated classrooms, and its own Anatomy Laboratory.
Hampton University is located in Southeastern Virginia on a picturesque waterfront campus in the Tidewater area, approximately 45 minutes from Virginia Beach and historical Williamsburg. It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution of higher learning with accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Centers of historic interest and many opportunities for outdoor recreation are within an hour of the University. Hampton University offers a multicultural environment and great opportunities for collaborative research.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be competent to teach in one or more assigned clinical practice areas. The candidate may also have an interest in assisting with the Clinical Education portion of this program. The candidate will contribute to the Department and University through teaching, research/scholarly productivity, and service. All faculty members are involved with student advisement and academic guidance.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold an earned doctoral degree, (PhD, EdD, DSc) and possess demonstrated excellence in teaching and outcome assessment. The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience in one or more of the following practice areas: Neurological Rehab, Motor Control, Pediatrics, or Special Topics. Licensure as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
