The Liberty Partnerships Program ( LPP ) , within the Cora P. Maloney Center ( CPMC ) at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks to hire a Pre-Collegiate Outreach Specialist . The Pre-Collegiate Outreach Specialist manages direct services pertaining to students in grades 5th through 12th at partner Buffalo City Schools. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Liberty Partnerships Program.

About the program
The Liberty Partnerships Program ( LPP ) which is part of the Cora P. Maloney Center ( CPMC ) at the University at Buffalo was established in 1988 to address the significant high school dropout rate among youth in New York State. LPP is a collaboration of 46 higher education institutions across New York State. The state program was founded on the belief that students will achieve academic success and lead productive lives as adults if they are provided with support, encouragement, information and effective interventions. To increase the high school graduation rate, we provide students with academic support, individual and family counseling, career counseling and guidance, and parent engagement. By engaging with our students in their school community and connecting them to the University at Buffalo, we provide access to resources to support their personal and academic growth.

Position Summary
The Liberty Partnerships Program ( LPP ) , within the Cora P. Maloney Center ( CPMC ) at the University at Buffalo (UB) seeks to hire a Pre-Collegiate Outreach Specialist . The Pre-Collegiate Outreach Specialist manages direct services pertaining to students in grades 5th through 12th at partner Buffalo City Schools. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Liberty Partnerships Program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Include :
- Manage initial intake and dissemination of information to new LPP students at partner Buffalo City Schools.
- Provide direct Academic Counseling services to students during the school day at partner school locations including during summer and field experiences (e.g. college tours and excursions).
- Manage a caseload of students, administer assessments to gauge student needs, create personalized learning plans.
- Design and deliver services to meet student needs including; classroom lessons, individual and/or small group academic counseling, college and career counseling, and learning activities including social-emotional learning activities.
- Document student activities and progress and make collateral contacts to family, teachers, coaches, counselors, and other influential adults to inform of student interventions and to plan appropriate student activities aimed to address needs.
- Responsible for maintenance of accurate, confidential records for 5th through 12th-grade college students; maintain up-to-date accurate notes of students’ personal learning plans, activities, programming, and collateral contacts.
- Responsible for obtaining student grade report(s), create student retention reports, and make necessary collateral contacts to retain program participants.
- Complete data entry on a bi-weekly basis to ensure program data integrity and utilize student data (grades, attendance, behavior, and program data) to inform practice, program design, and student activities.
- Collaborate with program staff to manage direct services pertaining to students.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementation of project programming and activities for students and parents.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling or related discipline.
- Minimum of at least one (1) year’s work experience teaching or counseling.
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as a team member with sensitive and confidential information.
- Master’s degree in Counseling/Education or related discipline.
- Minimum of three years experience working with underrepresented populations.
- Experience with curriculum design.
