Assistant Director, Academic Integration & Global Learning
About the Opportunity
Summary
The Assistant Director of Academic Integration and Global Learning manages key aspects of academic affairs for study abroad, exchanges, and faculty-led programs at Northeastern. They manage the study abroad course articulation process, including improvements to the process and the course evaluation database. The Assistant Director works closely with the study abroad team to academically evaluate existing partners/programs, improve information regarding curriculum and academics for partners/programs, and assist the study abroad team with robust advising concerning courses and academics. They manage academic affairs for faculty-led programs, working closely with the faculty-led team, including monitoring course approvals, ensuring accurate NUPath (core curriculum) information, and helping to orient faculty on academic delivery. In partnership with the Associate Director and with the study abroad team, the Assistant Director assists in developing academically-aligned programs serving particular majors at Northeastern.
They also manage relationships to college-level academic integration and global learning projects, such as the new Global Minor in Engineering. The Assistant Director will assist the Associate Director in overseeing global and intercultural learning initiatives, such as the 1-credit Global Learning Experience course, Global and Intercultural Communication Module/Badge, and Global Engagement Survey and assessment initiatives.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the US higher education administration and
familiarity with international higher education systems, degree
structures and progressions, pedagogies and methodologies, and
approaches to credits and grades.
- Basic understanding of research and/or program evaluation.
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of research, assessment
(quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with
proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet
goals and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to work effectively and
collaboratively with several different constituencies.
Professionalism and collegiality in a team environment, excellent
judgment, discretion, and the ability to make decisions in a timely
manner.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including
intercultural and interpersonal communication.
- Ability to effectively represent the University to outside
institutions and universities.
- Ability to interact with global program representatives,
faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an
understanding of protocol and confidentiality.
- Knowledge and skills for this role typically obtained through a
Bachelor's Degree with at least two years of academic
administration required, preferably in higher education and/or
international education.
