Co-Curricular Experience Manager, LA Campus

The Co-Curricular Experience Manager will enhance the Emerson College Los Angeles Campus (ELA) experience for student participants and visitors by providing programmatic leadership and administrative support for the ELA program. Specifically, this position will provide support to select sub-populations of ELA students (and the wider student population) as directed by the Assistant Dean of Students by providing leadership, planning, and execution for special events and excursions. This position will provide leadership for maintaining connections with outside groups and individuals for the benefit of the student experience. This position will also provide support for certain front facing administrative functions. This position requires a bachelor's degree or 7-10 years' equivalent experience working with students in higher ed specifically in the areas of programming, events management or customer service.

PROGRAM LEADERSHIP
  • Develop and implement programming for the entire Emerson College Los Angeles Campus (ELA) and for specific cohorts of students along themes and topical interests
  • Manage, plan, and host major events on campus for students, alumni, and the public (1+ per month, academic year)
  • Manage relationships with local organizations and other partners in developing and supporting programming and other activities
  • Manage, plan, and execute external trips for students to career focused venues. Coordinate with academics (Comedic Arts), transitional services, and other offices on the timing and relevance of trips as appropriate
  • Manage, plan and execute summer co-curricular programming for ELA student program and ELAs guests to create opportunities for networking/programming between the groups
  • Supervises 1 FT staff and 1-2 student workers


ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT
  • Provide direct oversight of the ELA Food Bank, including donation, solicitation, and usage tracking
  • Manage the ELA Sustainable Store (inventory, item storage, item collection, etc.) in coordination with Housing staff
  • Manage the EmersonLA and ELA printing services (color printing services for students) email addresses and provide prompt response and coordination with outside departments as needed
  • Manage the use for 1) the faculty apartment, 2) guest single and 3) guest/tour suite (amenities, supplies, furniture, cleaning schedule, keys, etc.). Schedule the apartment check-in and check-out for the faculty visiting from Boston
  • Staff ELAs Civic Engagement Working Group (led by the Assistant Dean of Students) which endeavors to host at least 2 engagement opportunities per semester
  • Manage staff and faculty break room and events supply room including supplies/amenities
  • Contribute to all major ELA events including: Move-in, Student Life Orientation, Welcome Week, Campus Wide Volunteer Events, WRAP Party, Theme Park Days, First Fridays, etc.
  • Provide program support as needed within the ELA campus, sometimes serving as lead host for certain events
  • Other Duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.
  • BA degree in Education or Social Sciences or 7-10 years' equivalent experience working with students in higher ed specifically in the areas of programming, events management or customer service


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
  • Proficient in online social engagement platforms (Google Hangout, Zoom, etc.)
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use a proficient level of software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, graphics, internet, social media, email, and Google Suite
  • Strong knowledge of marketing, programming, event operations, and risk management congruent with campus programming practices and standards
  • High level organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects and prioritize efficiently and effectively
  • Positive, team-oriented, with a proven record of collaboration
  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (staff, faculty, students, guests)

COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position will be between $64,480 - $66,486 annually, commensurate with experience.

This full-time position is based in Los Angeles, CA at the Emerson College Los Angeles Campus (ELA).

Grade of Position: 23-07E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
