Working under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Inclusive Excellence, directs all aspects of Multicultural Student Services. Focuses on recruiting and retaining students from diverse and underrepresented cultures and backgrounds. Collaborates closely with other entities within the Center for Global and Intercultural Engagement (CGIE) to increase intercultural competency of all UVU students.
LGBT Student Services serves a critical role, under the umbrella of Multicultural Students Services, in fulfilling the mission of UVU's subdivision of Inclusive Excellence.
Providing strategic vision and establish a framework of research-informed, transformational student programming, LGBT Student Services supports the success of UVU students by coordinating identity-centric student services including programs, scholarships, student groups, and other projects that support students as they develop, pursue, and achieve their academic goals on their path to graduation.

The Director is responsible for the strategic vision and administration of LGBT Student Services, its services, and programs with the goal of inclusive excellence. They also serve as campus and regional expert on relevant issues and builds collaborative partnerships to improve the trajectory of historically underrepresented populations. Working with both faculty and staff, this role leads a team of highly skilled professionals, with a focus on exceptional care for both students and employees.
Summary of Responsibilities
- (40%) Directs and supervises research-based and culturally-informed student services focused on increasing student retention, persistence, and degree completion. Emphasis is placed on practices which support historically underrepresented students, by providing support in regards, but not limited to, sexuality, gender identity, gender expression and intersectional identities.
- (20%) Provides strategic leadership and oversees the culturally-informed and culturally-relevant student services through data-informed student programming, student development, mentoring, and one-on-one meetings.
- (20%) Supports recruiting, community-building, events, student programs, and community engagement as assigned. Represents department to students, colleagues, and community as assigned. Collaborates with institutional advancement partner to maintain a productive advisory board and bring external funding resources to the institution. Directs administration of private scholarship program and off-site scholarship funds with an imperative on ethical use, honoring the intent of the funds, and support of students. Responsible for state appropriated funds, private funds, and grant funds.
- (10%) Manages financial and physical resources. Builds common ground to enhance collaboration between MSS programs and campus and community partners. Leads a team of experts in specialized services.
- (10%) Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to Summary of Duties totaling seven years. Supervision and leadership experience of full-time staff.

- Ability to demonstrate leadership, communication skills, commitment to diversity, consensus building, and independent work.
- Demonstrated success in overseeing specialized programs and services and the ability to understand and articulate student needs and concerns as they relate to professional and education goals.
- Ability to manage multiple budgets and raise funds from private donors, federal, and state grants in collaboration with professional development officers.
- Ability to create a productive and positive environment for employees and students, and provide meaningful feedback to support employee professional development.
