Work Schedule, Hours per week: M-F 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $50,441-63,051 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The JCCC Foundation Coordinator - Accounting serves at the direction of the Program Director - Finance and Operations of the JCCC Foundation. The position has significant responsibility for the financial health of Foundation through proper creation and documentation of financial records. This includes support of the Program Director - Finance and Operations to record and disclose all financial transactions, maintain compliance with Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations, and Financial Accounting Standards Board standards in financial reporting.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, finance or related field
  • At least five years experience in computerized accounting systems
  • In depth knowledge of accounting and financial record keeping best practices and IRS/State reporting requirements
  • Ability to complete detail work with accuracy
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing time and resources to help meet departmental goals

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification
  • Non-profit accounting experience
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge software

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

Foundation Accounting - Supports Program Director - Finance and Operations to ensure fiscal integrity and compliance with financial laws and agreements. Prepares and posts financial transactions, reconciles Foundation bank and investment accounts, calculates the quarterly and annual payout of investment accounts, and prepares and posts interest income allocations and posts inter-fund transfers. Reviews all Accounts Payable transactions for appropriate coding; Collects data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyzes data; supports compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations and systems of internal control. Maintains Foundation's art collection inventory and documentation; Serves as main accountant for JC3 organization (with support from Manager - Finance), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the JCCC Foundation.

Performance is acceptable when:

a. Timely & accurate financial statement reporting is available and communicated to the Program Director - Finance and Operations.

b. Foundation transactions are accurately entered, and best-practices are followed to ensure financial integrity and reporting accuracy.

c. All applicable filings are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Finance Support - Supports execution of financial activities within the JCCC Foundation. In partnership with Director of Finance and Operations and the Manager of Foundation Operations, supports preparation of monthly Treasurer's Reports, Project Reports, Fund Status Reports and other financial reports as required or requested by staff, donors and other stakeholders. Calculates annual scholarship availability and collaborate with Program Director - Finance and Operations in the roll forward of Foundation funds. Also works with the Program Director - Finance and Operations in the recording and processing of the large scholarship payments to the College. Works with other Foundation staff on budgeting, current operating expenditures, and reporting/tracking of all financial activities. Serves as the communication liaison between donor, broker, Midwest Trust and JCCC Foundation for all stock gift transfers; Works with Foundation staff as needed on financial transactions including gift accounting, deposits, cash, transfers, gift receipts and payment requests.

Performance is acceptable when:

a. Documents and financial records are prepared accurately

b. Processes and methods are followed to effectively record and communicate financial information for internal financial monitoring and external presentations to educate various audiences of Foundation financial operations.

c. Financial transactions, transfers, bank and investment accounts are effectively, accurately, and appropriately recorded and managed.

Required Reporting and Auditing Procedures - Supports the Program Director - Finance and Operations in the Foundation's compliance with all applicable Federal (IRS) and State Tax practices and requirements, including but not limited to the Foundation's external audit, IRS 990 and corresponding tax returns, and quarterly sales tax reporting; Provides accurate schedules & work papers as requested by the external auditors to assist with the annual audit and other external reporting.

Performance is acceptable when:

a. The Foundation is meeting all applicable timelines and requirements for federal and state reporting

b. Effective communication and assistance is provided to the Program Director - Finance and Operations for the reporting and collection of necessary Foundation data

c. Best practices are followed for financial reporting, record-keeping and fiscal monitoring.

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non­ routine and complex office administrative problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; interact with members of the Foundation Board, students, staff and the public.
