Job Description

The Department of Music at the University of Indianapolis seeks an Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory to begin August 2023. The Adjunct Professor will be responsible for teaching core theory courses, which may include Theory I, II, and III, Aural Skills, Form & Analysis, and Counterpoint.

Responsibilities - Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory
  • Teaches courses in core theory, which may include Theory I, II, and III, Aural Skills, Form & Analysis, and Counterpoint
  • Contributes to the general life of the department and college
  • Additional duties will be dependent on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the applicant
Qualifications - Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory
  • A PhD in Music Theory is preferred, but consideration will be given to applicants who are ABD, or with Doctorates in related areas with significant undergraduate theory teaching experience
  • Experience teaching undergraduate music theory, and the ability to teach advanced undergraduate courses like Counterpoint and Form & Analysis
