Assistant Director for Student Organizations and Affinity Groups (71101)


Location: Brooklyn, NY

Description:
The Assistant Director for Student Organizations and Affinity Groups, under the supervision of the Associate Director, assists with providing leadership and direction for a multifaceted student involvement program. These activities consist of advising and supervising student clubs and organizations, supporting 30 affinity student groups, and assisting with New Student Orientation. The AD will also work in collaboration to support student leadership initiatives (teaching Connections Leadership class, offering leadership opportunities to encourage participation from a diverse group of students, etc), as well as general student involvement programs. They will also support large scale programs such as Family Weekend, Admitted Student Day and Commencement.

Position Duties

  • Manage and support over 50 student clubs and organizations

  • Liaise with Student Government Association regarding organization budgets

  • Provide primary support for affinity groups (Queer Pratt, Black Student Union, LatinX Student Association, Pratt International Student Association, Jewish Student Union, etc)

  • Facilitate club leadership and advisor training/development and provide

  • Provide guidance on all club policies and procedures

  • Administer Engage (online student involvement portal) to track student engagement and provide a clearinghouse for all registered student organization and campus events

  • Travel with and support students at local and national conferences (such as NACA and APCA)

  • Manage and support Fraternity/Sorority Life

  • Participate in training Orientation staff and implementation of Orientation programs (spring and fall)

  • Teach a section of Connections (student leadership course)

  • Support Commencement activities such as graduation fairs and the ceremony

  • Share responsibility for on-site supervision of evening and weekend events

  • Perform other duties as assigned




Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree, preferably in the field of college student personnel or higher education required

Experience: At least two year’s experience in campus activities or related areas, along with a demonstrated knowledge of DEI lenses and experiences. Experience in schools of art and design preferred.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of current student affairs issues, excellent interpersonal, communication, writing,and decision-making skills required.

Other: Work hours will be 11am to 7pm, 3 days a week and 9am to 5pm, 2 days a week. Required to work evening and weekend hours as needed.

The Salary Range for this position is: $58,500 - $62,000.
