Position Description

The College of Fine Arts and Communication seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty to teach in Art and Design, Communication Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication, Music, and Theatre and Dance. Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester by semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental/school need. Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department.

This posting is for the fall 2023, spring 2024, and summer 2024 semesters. Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.

Required Qualifications

Specific educational requirements vary by position, but a minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching field is generally required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience is preferred.
