Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Department of Counselor Education offers two master’s degrees, an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and an M.Ed. in School Counseling. The department also offers a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and an undergraduate minor in Human Services. The interim chair will lead and coordinate strategic planning and curriculum development for the department; manage the budget; evaluate faculty and staff performance; coordinate accreditation and program approval initiatives; provide service to the university, community, and profession; actively participate in student recruitment; facilitate professional development programs for faculty and staff; and promote interdepartmental collaboration and communication. In addition, the chair will participate as a member of the executive council for the College of Education.
This is a full-time, temporary, non-tenure track position.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or related field.
Experience Required for the Position
The candidate must have minimum 5 years prior experience as department chair, including experience supervising counseling program(s) with college-level leadership experience preferred. The candidate must have a strong record of scholarly productivity; demonstrate a record of service; and must qualify for appointment at the level of Visiting Full Professor.
