The University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint) seeks nominations and applications for the inaugural position of vice provost for enrollment management and student success.

The University of Michigan-Flint is a regional comprehensive university that is dedicated to educational distinction and hands-on, engaged learning and serves as a center of excellence in health professions, STEM careers and entrepreneurship. UM-Flint students represent all walks of life and bring a depth of experience to the classroom. Among public universities in Michigan, UM-Flint is the third most affordable in tuition and one of the lowest regarding on-campus housing costs. The University's affordable excellence ensures that students are prepared to use the knowledge gained in their studies to solve the challenges in the world beyond the classroom. Students emerge from UM-Flint better prepared to put their degrees to work.

The University of Michigan-Flint serves approximately 6,400 learners and offers degrees in over 190 areas of study and over 60 graduate programs and certificates, including four professional doctorates and a Ph.D. in physical therapy. The University also offers programs in liberal arts and sciences, technology, elementary or secondary education, health care and business. The academic campus community comprises over 500 faculty members in addition to over 450 staff.

In 2021, UM-Flint marked its 65th anniversary as one of three campuses of the world-renowned University of Michigan. Today the campus continues to undergo a transformation as it grows academically with new undergraduate and graduate degree offerings, expanding partnerships with local and regional entities and industries. It remains committed to the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion by making an affordable, accessible education possible to the community. UM-Flint's development in recent years has paralleled that of its host city. Flint, with a population of approximately 100,000, is located about 60 miles north of Detroit and is in the midst of a similarly profound transformation. Although the city is best known as the birthplace of General Motors, shifts in the industry have caused the area to become better known for its educational opportunities, cultural centers, medical facilities and recreational activities. Visitors who return to the city after several years are amazed at the ongoing transformation, and UM-Flint has played a central role in the progress the city has made.

Reporting directly to the provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs with a dotted reporting line to the chancellor, the vice provost for enrollment management and student success (VPEMSS) will lead a dedicated team of enrollment management and student success professionals. They will be responsible for achieving enrollment goals through the continued implementation of UM-Flint's strategic transformation plan to foster enrollment growth. With the full support of the provost and chancellor, the VPEMSS will be charged with elevating an integrated and robust enrollment function strongly using data analytics to inform decision making. Recruitment, retention and persistence are areas of critical importance to this role. Efforts must be aimed at strategically positioning UM-Flint for long-term growth and future success.

The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative enrollment management and student success manager. An understanding of emerging technologies and enrollment trends and opportunities will be assets for the role. Experience in strategic planning and personnel management is required. The successful leader will see a challenge as an opportunity and bring a deep, abiding commitment to the University's values of diversity and access.
