Job Details
The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology is looking for an experienced Sr. Lab Manager / Staff Scientist to support NIH-funded research activities within the Meucci lab. Ongoing projects focus on neurocognitive disorders associated with HIV infection and neuroinflammation in the context of substance abuse. Candidates with previous experience in these areas or, more generally, neuroscience, pharmacology, and/or molecular biology are strongly encouraged to apply. The idea candidate will have outstanding communication and organization skills and thrive in a diverse environment.
Essential Functions
- Conduct and/or analyze experiments in line with the overall research goals of the lab.
- Support training of new students in basic molecular techniques such as SDS-PAGE, western blot, mammalian and primary cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry.
- Maintenance of lab research infrastructure, including (but not limited to) research protocols, animal protocols, instruments and reagents prep, equipment maintenance, and compliance with Drexel health and safety regulations.
- Ordering and restocking inventory and maintenance of various logbooks.
- Encourage and promote a supportive and collaborative environment between lab members.
- Work with rodent animal models.
- Other research-related duties assigned by PI.
- Work directly with vendors to fulfill the various needs of the lab.
- Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Biological Sciences
- Minimum of 3 plus years of experience in a neurobiology or translational neuroscience setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time management and organization skills.
- Highest work ethic standards.
- Candidates with management experience and research publications are highly sought.
- Self-learner and motivated
- Strong quantitative abilities
- Proven success working independently or as a member of a team.
- Experience working with rodent animal models.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture
- Goal-oriented and attention to details
- Typically sitting at a desk/table.
- Typically standing, walking
- Lifting demands <25lbs
- Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
