The Department of Communication at California State University San Marcos is seeking a part-time lecturer for Fall 2023 to teach MDIA 452: Media Ethics. The course description is below:

Course Description

Examination of ethical standards and practices of the media. Focuses on the conduct as a future media practitioner and the impact students will have on others in particular and society in general. Includes development of ethical decision-making skills.

Minimum qualifications:
  • ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Experience with and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction and teaching with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment
Preferred qualifications:
  • Doctoral Degree in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field
  • Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs
  • Higher education teaching experience with minimum of 1 year as teacher of record pertinent to subject area
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530-$8,000 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,530 - $11,994 per full-time month
