Haverford College invites applications to our full-time (at least 37.5 hours per week), exempt, benefits-eligible Assistant Director of Athletic Communications opportunity.
The Assistant Director supports the Athletic Communications Office as it relates to gameday management, website support, social media management and strategy, statistical input and reporting, and recordkeeping and other related responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare news releases for disbursement
- Report results of all sports competitions to local, regional, and national concerns
- Prepare and send feature stories to hometown papers
- Arrange collection of in-game statistics through NCAA Live Stats, Statcrew, or Presto platforms
- Exchange statistics electronically with opponents, conference office, and the NCAA
- Supervise student game staff (statisticians, scorers, announcers, other table and game day workers), announcing on the public address system when necessary in a fast-paced environment
- Coordinate all aspects of live streaming and multimedia through Centennial Conference Digital Network, including setup, tear down, and creation of live and feature video content for HaverfordAthletics.com and social media sites
- Create and monitor new content and features to promote the athletic department on social media (i.e., twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet reporting deadlines
- Proficiency in statistical software (NCAA LiveStats/StatCrew), Word, Excel, Presto or other content management systems, publishing software (Photoshop, InDesign), social media sites, and video editing software
- Experience in sports information, sports marketing, athletic communications, or a related field
- Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 153 background checks
- Possession of a valid U.S. drivers’ license, and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check. This position requires extensive travel, including weekends and evenings, and the transportation of students.
- Ability to be available for evening and weekend games and events
- First Aid, CPR, AED Certified: Should the final candidate not currently hold those certifications, they will be provided an opportunity to obtain them in the first 30 days of employment.
