The Carthage College Athletics Department offers an eleven month (July-May) position, with opportunity of additional summer paid appointments. This position will likely provide direct coverage for men’s lacrosse, cross country, and track and field. However, Carthage College is home to 28 NCAA DIII athletic teams, providing access to a wide variety of athletes. The Carthage College Athletic Training education program is a CAATE accredited master’s level program. As such, the staff athletic trainer will also have graduate AT students under their supervision as a preceptor.

Applicants should be BOC-certified and licensed in the state of Wisconsin by August 2023. Applicants will start on July 1 st . Applicants will be expected to cover weekend/evening practices or competitions, as scheduled by the Head Athletic Trainer as well as provide clinical coverage of the athletic training room as scheduled.

The staff athletic trainer joins a staff of three other staff athletic trainers, one head athletic trainer, and one graduate assistant athletic trainer. Additionally, on campus sports medicine care is provided by team physicians, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists.

General ATC Job responsibilities:

-Follow all NATA, CCIW Conference, and NCAA directives, recommendations, and guidelines.

-Provide emergency care for all athletic injuries.

-Coordinate prevention programs for all suspect athletes.

-Refer athletes to doctor/emergency department.

-Evaluate athletic injuries and formulate problem list.

-Develop and supervise athlete rehabilitation program based on treatment plan

-Supervise the daily activities of the athletic training students.

-Promote and maintain a learning environment in all athletic training settings

-Document Preceptor AT Student Evaluations on a timely basis

-Liaison between doctor, athlete, parents, and coaching staff.

-Verify proper selection and fit of protective equipment.

-Maintain and manage athlete’s medical files.

-Member of the Athletic Training Education Program Interview Committee

-Exhibit a professional attitude and sustain professional development in the field of Athletic Training

-Provide assistance with duties as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer
