The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine (CSAM), invites qualified individuals to apply for an open Lecturer position in Animal Welfare and Behavior (AWB). The strongest candidates for this position will have a record of, or clear potential for scholarship in, AWB science. Candidates are required to have a PhD or DVM degree. The successful candidate's primary area of focus might involve any number of AWB scientific fields including animal behavior and welfare science and human-animal interaction, amongst others. A focus on companion animals is preferred. Candidates without US citizenship or permanent resident status will be required to obtain the necessary visas.

Lecturer positions are 1-year positions with the potential for renewal up to 2 times, for a total duration of 3 years. The Lecturer will have the opportunity to interact with CSAM's Shelter Medicine Program and Behavior Service as well as the School's AWB Master's degree and certificate programs. Duties include collaborative AWB scholarship in the School of Veterinary Medicine as well as across the University Campus and Philadelphia community. The combination of clinical service in the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and didactic teaching is anticipated to comprise no more than 5% of the Lecturer's duties.


Qualifications
The strongest candidates for this position will have a record of, or clear potential for scholarship in, AWB science, and have a Ph.D. or DVM degree, or both.
