Position Description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, in partnership with Dell Children's Medical Center (DCMC), seeks a pediatric psychologist to join us in working within the DCMC Children's Blood and Cancer Center.

Job Summary
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient behavioral health consultation-liaison services, brief and longer-term psychological intervention and collaborate with medical and psychosocial teams within the Children's Blood and Cancer Center to serve oncology and hematology patients.
  • This position will also be expected to participate in training initiatives which include: an APA accredited internship program, a postdoctoral fellowship program, and opportunities for practicum students
  • The opportunity for program development and implementation of psychosocial programming may exist.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA or CPA accredited program in clinical, counseling or school psychology

Experience
  • Completion of an APA accredited internship program
  • Postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology or clinical child & adolescent psychology

Licensure/Certifications
  • Current license to practice in Texas (or license eligible) issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
  • Eligibility and commitment to pursue board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology
  • Eligible for faculty appointment with The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Previous experience working with children and families impacted by cancer and/or blood disorders, pain or palliative care
