Project Manager- American Congress Digital Archives Portal -WVU Libraries

The WVU Libraries is accepting applications for a fully remote Visiting Librarian (Project Manager) position for the American Congress Digital Archives Portal Project.

Major Responsibilities
• Engage partner institutions on project digitization and metadata standards and perform quality control on harvested materials and metadata.
• In coordination with developers, assist partner institutions with harvest configurations.
• Work with developers to test and provide feedback on deliverables.
• Run imports of partner content.
• Create and update documentation related to digitization, metadata, and harvesting.
• Create documentation for end users to assist with navigating and searching the portal.
• Supervise metadata creation for WVU Libraries project deliverables.
• Contribute to other portal development tasks as needed.

• 37.5 hours weekly M-F with occasional early evening work possible due to partner institution time zones

• Salary range $50,000- $55,000 commensurate with experience

Qualifications :

Required qualifications:
• ALA accredited Master’s degree in library and information science or international equivalent graduate degree by date of appointment
• 1-2 year’s experience
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including remote meeting facilitation
• Ability to work independently and to prioritize work
• Ability to maintain consistent and usable project documentation
• Experience with archival digitization
• Experience implementing metadata standards and best practices (Dublin Core, MODS)
• Experience with metadata mapping, transformation, and validation
• Knowledge of data harvesting

Desired qualifications and knowledge:
• Experience with project management
• Experience with data harvesting
• Experience with XML programming languages (XSLT, XPath, XQuery)
• Experience with metadata mapping, transformation, and validation
• Experience with OpenRefine or another data transformation utility
• Knowledge of scripting language and APIs
• Interest in linked data and RDF
