Camp Counselors

We Rock Summer at Lasell University seeks applicants for the position of Camp Counselor to work during its 4-week summer camp program for children ages 3.5 to 10 years. Camp sessions run July 17 - July 28 and August 14 - August 25. Counselors spend the day working with campers, participating in activities, helping campers make friends and try new things, while ensuring each child's physical safety.

Counselors must attend an orientation and staff training June 27-29 or July 10-12 in preparation for camp opening on July 17. Camp runs Monday through Friday and staff will have 40-hour work weeks. Camp Counselors will work in teams reporting to an Assistant Director and the Camp Director.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be/have:

  • At least 16 years of age

  • High school or college student

  • Candidates who have taken a child development course and/or who have previous experience working with children ages 3 to 10 in a camp, school, or childcare setting are preferred

  • Candidates are expected to be professional, kind and patient

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Be comfortable enforcing rules and giving direction when required

  • Kind, Energetic, enthusiastic, and patient

  • Safety conscious

  • Provide 3 references
    Responsibilities include:
  • Attending all required orientation and training sessions

  • Understanding and implementing camp emergency policies and procedures

  • Providing general care and safety oversight for all children attending We Rock Summer and direct care and oversight for children in assigned groups

  • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets

  • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities

  • Modeling We Rock Summer standards of respect for all members of the community, dress code, good manners, kindness, and behavior; ensuring that campers understand and comply with these community expectations
