Job Summary:

The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) is seeking a pediatric emergency medicine physician to join our team to care for pediatric patients in the emergency department (ED) at American Family Children's Hospital, teach students and resident physicians, and participate in scholarly activities. Our faculty are highly collaborative and dedicated to all of our missions. This is an exciting time in emergency medicine research at the UWSMPH. Join our team today and be inspired to elevate your abilities.

SMPH is committed to being a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist workplace and is an Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer. Applications from Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals, LGBTQ+ and non-binary identities, women, persons with disabilities, military service members and veterans are strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities:

Clinical responsibilities: We seek an Emergency Medicine physician to deliver patient care at pediatric emergency medicine clinical sites. American Family Children's Hospital is a regional referral center and the ED cares for the highest acuity and most complex patients. We care for diverse communities that come from across the upper Midwest. The ED is staffed with an excellent team of skilled and compassionate advanced practice providers, nurses, technicians, social workers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, case managers, and care coordinators who are similarly dedicated to providing the highest quality of care.

Education: Faculty in DEM are actively committed to educating learners. Faculty teach undergraduate and graduate students through classes and supervised research experiences. Faculty teach medical students by participating in and leading UWSMPH courses and tracks as well as supervised clinical care. Resident physicians are similarly taught through both supervised clinical care and didactic, small group, and simulation activities.

Service responsibilities: The successful applicant will participate in service activities, including attending required meetings and conferences such as faculty meetings and educational conferences; completing administrative requirements; and participating on important committees consistent with the shared governance model at UWSMPH.

Scholarly activity: Faculty in DEM play an active role in scholarly initiatives to advance the field of emergency medicine. These initiatives include authoring educational and research publications, delivering trainings, and supporting ongoing research studies. Our research enterprise includes a range of transdisciplinary research studies with extensive federal and foundation grant support and welcomes interested collaborators.

Overall, non-clinical effort is expected to at least be on par with clinical effort.
