Assistant Director of Brand Communications

Salary:

Minimum $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Job Summary:

The UW Brand Communications Department is seeking an Assistant Director of Brand Communications to join our team and be a central piece of the brand storytelling for Wisconsin Athletics and its teams. Individual will serve as the primary communications contact for our women's basketball program in addition to other sports as assigned. Looking for a highly motivated individual to creatively plan, implement and supervise our communication strategy, represent sports programs at events and serve as liaison between departments to promote athletic program and institutional communication goals. May supervise personnel with a work unit communications team.

Responsibilities: Plans, implements, and supervises athletics communication strategy, represents sports programs at events, and liaises communication between departments to promote athletic program and institutional communication goals.
  • 25% Assists in development of all strategic communication initiatives
  • 25% Identifies and monitors all media relations, publicity, and player promotion requirements
  • 25% Edits and distributes athletic communication materials for internal and external audiences
  • 15% Manages communication of athletic statistics and record keeping
  • 10% Responsibilities related to promoting and executing events

Qualifications:

Required:
Minimum of two years of sports marketing, communications or relevant experience at the collegiate or professional level required.

Preferred:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to creatively tell stories about student-athletes, coaches and teams using various communications methods including social media, graphic design, video and written content;
- Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Software;
- Photography skills a plus
- Ability to work with students, coaches and administrators in a broad range of situations;
- Willingness and ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines and experience working in an atmosphere of NCAA compliance;
- Ability to develop and implement innovative approaches and solutions;
- Work well independently and in teams;
- Flexible in accepting new responsibilities

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
