Advanced Compound Semiconductor Devices

The Advanced Compound Semiconductor Devices Group led by Yuping Zeng at the University of Delaware invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher. The group's mission is to create advanced electron devices and systems by innovations in material design and fabrication processes. The research will focus on creating high-speed devices for high performance applications and novel electron devices for low power applications by using new materials, novel device design and innovative fabrication techniques including (1) high speed transistors (heterojunction bipolar transistors and high electron mobility transistors); (2) novel transistors (tunneling field effect transistors and III-V metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors); and (3) light emitting diodes, laser diodes, photodetectors, etc. Investigations of these advanced fabricated devices will use modeling and simulation.

Activities will also include the development of research proposals, progress reports for external research sponsors, authoring of scholarly papers, attending and presenting research at conferences where applicable, and contributing to the mentoring of graduate students.

Prospective applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related field, with experience with optoelectronic device simulation, nanofabrication, and electrical/optical testing. Strong research and publication background is required. Fluency in English speaking/writing is required. The initial term of appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
