Job Description

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry is seeking a Sr. Student Services Coordinator for Academic Support to assist with our professional dental, dental hygiene students and advanced education residents. The Senior Student Services Coordinator for Academic Support in the School of Dentistry plays a vital role in promotion of student success. This position works directly with students to foster their academic success by developing, implementing, and monitoring action plans for success.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Advising students related to university policies, procedures, and resources
  • Serving as a liaison between students and faculty
  • Tracking and monitoring students’ academic performance
  • Coaching students with development of management skills (time, stress, critical thinking, communication and interpersonal) and study strategies
  • Assisting with provision of services for students with ADA accommodations
  • Supervising student tutors for didactic courses
  • Providing mediation between students, faculty, and staff, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education student affairs or counseling, experience coaching life skills, or experience with FERPA
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related content area
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Demonstrated written communication skills as evidenced by: application materials, presentation experience, computer skills, data base management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to do detailed work, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity
Full Time/Part Time

Full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit-eligible, staff position.

Salary

$50,367 to $55,000 per year, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
