Graduate Student Recruitment Manager - Cranbrook Academy of Art

Cranbrook Academy of Art, ranked nationally as one of the top graduate programs in art, architecture and design, is now accepting applications for a Graduate Student Recruitment Manager. The Graduate Student Recruitment Manager is responsible for partnering with a core administrative team to increase the number of top-tier applicants and meet enrollment targets at Cranbrook Academy of Art. This position oversees the graduate recruitment strategy for eleven departments (2D Design, 3D Design, 4D Design, Architecture, Ceramics, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture) as well as recruitment for summer programming.

The Graduate Student Recruitment Manager will increase the reach of the Academy through regular travel to international and national portfolio and recruitment events, specialty conferences in the arts, and visits to undergraduate programs in art and design and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The Graduate Student Recruitment Manager also collaborates with the Academy communications team, Alumni Relations and Student Services. They will oversee the Recruitment Coordinator, who provides programmatic and administrative support. This position reports to the Manager of Enrollment and Financial Aid.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Implement and manage a robust year-round recruitment program to support admission related strategies, increase awareness of the Academy and attract high-quality applicants for graduate study in the fields of Architecture, Art and Design.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact in connecting prospective candidates with appropriate academic departments.
  • Work with Artists-in-Residence/Heads of Departments to develop recruitment and outreach strategy for eleven departments.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Academy Communications team regarding marketing, communications, and branding initiatives in the areas of paid, earned, owned, and shared media. Oversee the production of video and print materials used for recruitment, working in partnership with the Academy Communications team. 
  • Meet regularly with Artists in Residence to gather information on Departmental activities and event. Share this information with the communications team in gathering information from Departments for regular website updates and external communications.
  • Travel to conduct informational sessions, lectures, and presentations and participate in domestic and international recruitment events and participate in online recruiting activities.
  • Manages on-campus recruitment events and visits for prospective students.
  • Compile data and written reports on enrollment trends and opportunities within specialized areas.
  • Manage recruitment data in the Academy's student information system.
  • Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, attention to detail, attendance, punctuality and other performance standards set forth in Cranbrook’s employee handbook.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and working groups.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in higher education recruitment, communications/public relations or comparable employment experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically in order to successfully accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Must demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in verbal and written form.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and proficient in working with database systems.
  • Position requires a valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
