Class Description

To perform professional level work supporting students with disabilities primarily, and the general student population as needed or required. Responsible for the leadership and management operations of the campus Disability Support Services (DSS) Center. Accountable for coordinating efforts to make the Community College accessible to all students with disabilities, evaluating needs for classroom accommodations, and providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations to students under the mandates of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (ADAAA) OF 2008.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Human Services (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education or related field) required. Three years of professional work experience providing services for individuals with disabilities, preferably in a college or university setting. Knowledge of Federal and State laws regarding post-secondary students with disabilities. Experience accessing and entering data into a Student Information System (such as Banner) is required. Evenings and weekends are required during peak registration periods.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Under the supervision of the Counselor of DSS, provide ongoing support to the college community in general and foster inter-departmental communication with academic and student services areas in the coordination of services and accommodations for students with disabilities to ensure compliance.
  2. Comply with all areas of disabilities and stakeholders' subsequent ADAAA/504/508 accommodations as well as relevant CCBC academic, enrollment management, and student services polices to enforce and implement DSS procedures to ensure their accurate application to college wide policies.
  3. Conduct interviews with prospective, new and currently enrolled students who are interested in obtaining accommodations for a disability or disabilities.
  4. Manage an active caseload of students with disabilities using established mechanisms to monitor and track outcomes and maintainreporting statistics and records in accordance with professional, institutional and state guidelines.
  5. Collaborate with professionals who provide documentation, CCBC faculty and the student in the coordination of accommodations for assigned students.
  6. Proactively provide effective outreach, connection and advocacy to students who are working with the Disability Support Services Center to promote student persistence and retention.
  7. Use effective problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify and implement solutions to complex, sensitive issues and educate students in self-advocacy to help implement reasonable accommodations.
  8. Provide academic advising, educational counseling and assistance to students in the resolution of problems affecting their access to and progress in college and refer students that would benefit from additional student support services to appropriate resources as necessary.
  9. Maintain and update confidential files and program records accurately and securely.
  10. Participate in staff meetings, events, and in service training opportunities.

Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/Human Resources Forms.
Parking
