Job Summary

The Quandt Mycology Laboratory encourages applications for a Bioinformatician Post Doctoral Research Associate! The successful candidate will have experience working with microbial organisms; work with fungal genomics would be helpful but is not required. The candidate will be joining both the Quandt Lab, and a diverse team of researchers exploring: the quantification of underrepresented fungi, the associations between parasitic microfungi and their hosts, the geographical distributions of parasitic microfungi, and the taxonomy and systematics of microfungal lineages. Additionally, the successful candidate will have flexibility to design and pursue research both within and outside the bounds of this specific appointment.

The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

EBIO's disciplinary strengths include ecology, evolution, genetics, behavior, biology education research and systematics. Our research programs have relevance for global change, conservation biology, the spread of diseases, and revealing fundamental mechanisms underlying the structural and functional adaptations of organisms.

Research Areas: Our faculty specialize in many fields of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Interested in learning more? Visit the various research interests of our faculty.

In the Field: Our faculty, students and researchers travel the world to conduct research in ecology and evolution. Learn more about their experiences and stories in our In the Field articles.

The Quandt lab is part of the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO) Department at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Our lab studies fungal evolutionary biology - especially the evolution of host association, the evolution of pathogenicity, how fungi interact with other microorganisms, and fungal biodiversity. Phylogenetics, genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, experimental evolution, and molecular community ecology are tools that we are currently using to address these larger interests in fungal biology.
