The Dean of the College of Health Professions is responsible for the administration of the College of Health Professions within the University, working with the faculty of the Helene Fuld School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health. The Dean reports directly to the Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, collaborates and acts as principal administrator on educational policies and practices, academic planning, and matters related to the University and the College of Health Professions. The Dean of the College of Health Professions serves as ex-officio on all committees as designated by the Bylaws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recommend qualified persons for appointment and promotion in accordance with the University’s policies.
  • Prepare and administer the budget for the College of Health Professions in accordance with the University’s policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and review written assignments with cooperating agencies for compliance.
  • Facilitate leadership and mentorship initiatives for the College of Health Professions.
  • Prepare and submit periodic and annual reports related to the approval and accreditation of educational programs within the College of Health Professions.
  • Obtain approval from appropriate entities and offices for changes to the curriculum.
  • Develop short and long-term goals directly related to the educational program, faculty development, and growth of the College of Health Professions.
  • Represent the College of Health Professions within the University and with state, regional, and national agencies and organizations.
Required Qualifications

Education
  • Master’s Degree in Health-related discipline.
  • Earned Doctorate degree in Health-related discipline required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a baccalaureate or masters level health-related program, including clinical, didactic instruction and administrative experience required.
  • Experience with preparation of a self-study report for accreditation or reaccreditation.
  • Service on the curriculum committee of an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Experience in leadership position in a baccalaureate and/or graduate level program.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
  • Proven track record for scholarship and securing external funds.
  • Knowledge of and experience with programmatic accreditation and compliance with regulations promulgated by the accrediting agencies for program.
  • Knowledge of an experience with building productive relationships between higher education health programs and community health care constituencies, such as hospitals.
  • Ability to communicate with senior level administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders including, but not limited to system office administrators, school personnel, and institutional constituents.
  • Knowledge of academic programs and ability to provide oversight of academic processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the teaching and learning process.
  • Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and program review.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Evidence of a collaborative leadership style, creativity, ad innovation.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment in an urban setting.

Conditions of Employment

The Dean, College of Business is a 12-moth appointment and may require evening and weekend hours.
