Position Description
Candidates are expected to have a demonstrated interest in liberal arts and sciences education, contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching, assist in curriculum development, provide service to the department and College, as well as be active in scholarly, creative, and/or research productivity appropriate to a liberal arts environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor, position to begin in August 2023. We seek outstanding teacher/scholar dedicated to excellence in teaching political science courses. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in political science with demonstrated expertise in the areas of study noted above and proven ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level in political science, including but not limited to Classical and Contemporary Political Theory, National Government in the United States, and Racism and the Law. The position also requires advising and mentoring students and providing service to the Department and the Spelman College community. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to working with women and underrepresented minority students through teaching, mentoring, and research are especially encouraged to apply.
