Job Description

The Trulaske Edge professional development program at the University of Missouri (MU) Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business invites applicants with excellent teaching credentials in business professional development along with relevant industry experience for a full-time, non-tenure track (NTT) position. The overall teaching load will be equivalent to twelve (12) credit hours per semester. This is not a remote-work position, but some online courses may be scheduled.

The successful candidate will support professional development initiatives in the Trulaske Edge. This includes working with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders. These activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist the Assistant Dean of Student Programs with the formulation and implementation of Edge curriculum and short and long-term strategies and policies for the Trulaske Edge.
  • Assist in building collaborative stakeholder relationships within in the Trulaske College of Business, the university, and the broader local, national, and international business communities.
  • Establish and coordinate client projects and partnerships for Edge courses, including BA 1500 (Intro to Professional Development) and BA 3500 (Advanced Professional Development). This includes working with individual businesses as well as campus partners, including MU Extension and the MU Office of Service Learning.
  • Create, develop, coordinate, and publicize Trulaske Edge professional development events and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching business professional development topics and courses that implement experiential, hands-on student learning opportunities. They will bring previous teaching and industry experiences to help Trulaske students develop distinguishing professional competencies, prepare for future internships, become competitive on the job market, and be prepared for career success after graduation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A completed master’s degree or PhD in Business or a related field at the time of application and demonstrated relevant teaching experience.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
  • College-level teaching experience and a passion for teaching subjects related to the Trulaske Edge professional development competencies: teamwork; career and self-development; communication; critical thinking; inclusion, diversity, and equity; leadership; professionalism; and technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external businesses and stakeholders to enhance student learning and professional development opportunities.
  • A bility to engage students in both large (300+) and small section formats as well as face-to-face and hybrid or online formats.
  • Effective use of a variety of student assessment methods.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems for grade management and reporting.
  • Collegiality in service roles involving curriculum design, integration, oversight, and evaluation.
