Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) Board of Directors seek a visionary leader with the ability to further build on the success BSCTC has recently had in enrollment and financial stability. The ideal leader will have served rural communities and have the ability to understand the challenges and opportunities within the region. The President of BSCTC will be a transformational leader and relationship builder who exudes confidence and transparency with an engaging and friendly leadership style.
Additional characteristics of the next BSCTC President will include:
- Focus on students with a strong commitment to recruitment, retention & student success.
- Transparent with ability to share and receive information.
- An open and transparent communication style with the ability to share appropriate information at all levels of the college.
- Establish trust within the college by having respect for the faculty and staff's areas of expertise.
- Visible, approachable and accessible within a college and multiple campuses.
- Forward thinking and visionary leader with an energetic, charismatic and personal style.
- Actively engaged in communities served by BSCTC and a willingness to learn about the culture and issues in the region.
- A transformational relationship builder with success in developing and strengthening external partnerships.
- History of serving rural communities and partnering with rural businesses and industry.
- Significant experience in establishing programs that meet the region's workforce needs and prepares students to earn a livable wage.
- A willingness to serve as the face and voice of the college in order for BSCTC to be a leader in creating jobs and stabilizing the economy in the region.
- Record addressing and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Success with ensuring that all students can be successful and addressing hindrances that oftentimes face students in rural, poverty-stricken areas.
- Strong financial background with thorough understanding of the budgeting process.
- Ability to review academic programs from a financial standpoint.
- A strong understanding of both liberal arts and technical education and the importance of both for preparing students for the workforce.
- Previous support of the arts.
- Strong fundraiser with the ability to leverage relationships to generate new funding streams.
- Commitment to serving area K-12 schools and increasing dual enrollment.
