Position Summary
The University at Buffalo School of Nursing ( SON ) invites applicants for a Clinical Faculty position. This is a full-time (12-month) appointment to educate students primarily in the DNP graduate programs and may also participate in some undergraduate instruction.
Responsibilities include:
All candidates should be prepared to pursue the scholarship of teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Candidates at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate/Professor level are also expected to contribute to the tripartite mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research and/or practice/service mission of the university. This position may provides options to continue to engage in clinical practice opportunities.

Position Summary
The University at Buffalo School of Nursing ( SON ) invites applicants for a Clinical Faculty position. This is a full-time (12-month) appointment to educate students primarily in the DNP graduate programs and may also participate in some undergraduate instruction.
Responsibilities include:
- Classroom and online didactic teaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating students in clinical practice and simulated learning environments.
- Planning, developing, and implementing evidence-based, innovative, and interactive learning experiences for the adult learner across classroom and clinical learning environments for undergraduate, Doctor of Nursing practice ( DNP ), post-masters ( DNP ), and post-masters certificate students.
- Maintains clinical nursing expertise and adheres to ethical and professional nursing standards of practice.
- Collaborates with faculty to plan, design, implement, and lead classroom, laboratory/simulated, and community-based practice student learning experiences.
- Assist PMHNP faculty with securing clinical placements for students.
- Establishes collaborative and positive working relationships that respect the dignity, worth, and culture of students, faculty, staff, colleagues, peers, patients, families, communities, agency nurse managers, and interdisciplinary agency teams and staff. Participates in agency/organizational/unit orientations.
- Serves as a mentor and professional role model to facilitate and ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences.
- Assists students with the transfer, utilization, and synthesis of knowledge into current learning activities and practical experiences through establishment of physical and emotional environments conducive to effective teaching and learning.
- Establishes early intervention/remediation through specific written guidance and referral for activities to facilitate academic success in students demonstrating unsafe advanced nursing practice and/or who lack clinical preparation.
- Complies with State, University, Clinical Agency, and professional regulations/requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Terminal degree in PhD or DNP program and advanced practice graduate degree from a regionally accredited School of Nursing and national certification as a PMHNP .
- Current New York State licensure as a RN and PMHNP with prescriptive authority mandatory.
- Minimum of two years clinical experience as a NP.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across the spectrum with students, faculty, and interdisciplinary roles.
- Experience with diverse populations and a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Must maintain currency in clinical practice.
- Previous experience teaching in classroom and online environments.
- Clinical simulation/practicum student supervision.
