About the Opportunity

Provide a summary of the job's primary function: the Healthier Air and People: Intelligent Solutions to Urban Pollution for Equity and Resilience (iSUPER) is a 5-year project within Northeastern University's strategic Impact Engines initiative(https://impactengines.northeastern.edu/). iSUPER pairs low-cost, adaptable sensing technologies with novel pollution prediction models to accurately identify hyperlocal pollution hot spots in real time. iSUPER seeks a Project Manager to support the pre-award and post-award administration of the project. They will lead and coordinate a range of project activities including: (1) developing comprehensive project work plans and key performance indicators (KPIs) towards milestones. (2) managing project reports, presentations, other deliverables, and grant related material. (3) managing the day-to-day operations of the project, including the operating budget and resourcing needs. (4) structuring phases of the project into tasks and subtasks, ensuring timely completion of project deliverables, the development of internal processes and adherence with university policies and procedures. (5) coordinating outreach activities and developing strong relationships with program participants and collaborators within and outside the university. iSUPER is hosted within Northeastern's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and overseen by Professor and Lead Principal Investigator (PI) Yang Zhang. The Project Manager will work strategically and collaboratively with the PI, faculty, staff and students from the University and external stakeholders.

This is a full-time position (40 hrs/week) starting as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. One-year contract renewable for up to 4 additional years contingent on availability of funding and positive performance reviews. This position will be based on the Boston campus of Northeastern University with some local travel required. The required application documents include: up-to-date CV, unofficial transcript if within 5-7 years of graduation with BS or MS degree, description of 2-3 previous projects that may be related, and name/contact information for 3 references.

Minimum Qualifications:

The position requires a dynamic individual who can work well in a busy environment that requires multitasking and friendly and professional interactions with a wide range of individuals.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, research/grant administration, or a related field.
  • Well-rounded project management skills including excellent organizational skills, analytical ability, financial management, risk identification, planning, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • - Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to tailor communications between project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced, diverse and changing environment as part of an effective team.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet demanding deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required; Experience with Workday, Banner, Cognos, Smartsheet systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in website development, database design and management, graphic design and professional editing preferred.
