Job Summary
The incumbent is the point of contact regarding employee benefits in the Office of HRM . He/she assists with the administration of the day-to-day efficient operations of the benefits/payroll functions and duties within the Office of HRM .

- Knowledge of principles and practices of HR benefit and payroll administration
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to human resources benefits

- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with constituents.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
- Distributes benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
- Ensures the accuracy of benefit enrollments
- Approves, processes and enters payroll and benefits data based on information provided via Electronic Personnel Actions Forms (EPAFs) submitted by departments
- Responsible for employee benefit changes to the health, life, dental, vision and supplemental plans Assists employees with the exit process and maintains statistical separation data
- Transfers unused leave to PERS for exiting employees
- Assists with the open enrollment process
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees related to plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquires
- Oversees maintenance of employee benefits files, maintains group benefits database and updates employee payroll records
- Reviews and respond to unemployment claims
- Processes and administers leave of absence requests as it relates to medical and FMLA, effectively interprets FMLA implications as it relates to leaves of absence
- Assists with the processing of monthly billings and prepares check authorizations for submission to the accounting office
- Serves as content manager for the HR webpage
- Associate degree in Human Resources or related field
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience and/or training/certification may be substituted for formal education
- Two (2) years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administrators
