Job Summary
The incumbent oversees a student retention program which is the academic foundation at the start of the higher education experience, and which encourages student persistence. He/she is responsible for administering the development, implementation and maintenance of the retention function and development services during the critical first two-years as they complete their general education core and prepare to meet the rigors of their upper division coursework and ultimately graduation.

- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal
- Strong organizational, analytical, planning and budgeting skills
- Ability to foster a climate reinforcing the development of students
- Ability to complete projects by deadlines
- Ability to work cooperatively with constitutions
- Ability to communicate goals and objectives clearly
- Oversees the strategic planning, assessment and evaluation of the University College
- Evaluates programs and activities of the division
- Assesses and evaluates the achievement of objectives of programs under his/her supervision · Monitors the implementation of division plans and takes appropriate corrective measures when necessary
- Articulates the overall vision and strategic goals to guide the development of the division within the institution
- Works effectively and efficiently with an array of constituent groups including students, university faculty and staff, and the general public
- Collaborates with deans, academic department chairpersons and faculty to coordinate federal advisement concerns
- Doctorate in Higher Education Administration, Personnel Education, Counseling or related field
- Three years’ experience in student development
