We are searching for an experienced Sr. Corporate Relations Officer-Mike Ilitch School of Business at our Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):

Provide expertise and experience in the Mike Ilitch School of Business (MISB) with the planning, creation, and implementation of fundraising strategies to cultivate and solicit corporations to gain support for student and faculty research, outreach initiatives and develop and strengthen collaborative partnerships. This position is also responsible for managing a portfolio of 15-30 strategic corporate relationships in key sectors within the School of Business. This position reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Relations.

Develop and implement the School of Business corporate relations strategies and fundraising plans in collaboration with the AVP Corporate & Foundation Relations, Sr. Director-Corporate Relations, Sr. Director-Major Gifts-MISB, the Dean and the MISB development team to increase philanthropic support for MISB’s programs, research, and educational mission. Responsible for achieving annual fundraising goal and assist in meeting unit goals.

Cultivate relationships with targeted MISB alumni and key executives within corporations to learn about their plans and interests; identify and build significant corporate alliances across a spectrum of university departments that work closely with industry including Development and Alumni Affairs, Office of Vice President of Research, Office of Business Innovation and Career Services.

Manage a corporate relations portfolio of 15-30 corporations; schedule and host on and off-campus corporate visits and events; assist with research contracts and gift agreements; support stewardship initiatives.

Coordinate with appropriate WSU and MISB offices to establish corporate alliances and steward these relationships. Manage sponsorship programs and gain support for the Dean’s corporate engagement strategies and initiatives.

Identify new industry partners in areas such as Finance, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain Management. Establish and implement industry cluster plan to expand Wayne State’s engagement and corporate support for the Mike Ilitch School of Business.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's degree required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in business administration, public relations, marketing or related field.

Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience working in higher education or the private sector in business development or corporate affairs. Broad knowledge in business sectors such as finance, accounting, information systems, management and entrepreneurship is desirable.
Direct experience with creating development fundraising plans, preparing proposals, and conducting major gift solicitations required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills are a must. Ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds.
PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION: Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment.
ANALYTICAL AND PRESENTATION SKILLS: Ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations. Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail in order to achieve a high degree of accuracy.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficient in the use of complex administrative systems software, preferably in the higher education environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and Teams.
LEARNING AGILITY: Independent and innovative self-starter who displays an ability to learn quickly and easily adapts to changing situations. Experience researching topics to gain knowledge and understanding when information gaps exist.
TEAMWORK: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues within the division and other units to gain full understanding of the project and desired outcome; ability to produce high quality and consistent results with assistance of team members; provide support to teammates when tackling complex projects.
