The College of Education at Wayne State University invites applications for Part-Time Faculty Instructor pool positions in Bilingual, Bicultural Education (BBE), English as a Second Language (ESL), and/or Foreign Language (FL) to begin Fall 2022.
The successful candidate will join the Division of Teacher Education (TED), which attracts faculty, staff, and students who are committed to urban education and social justice.
Teach BBE, ESL or Foreign Language methods and content courses to initial certification teachers and/or those who are seeking additional endorsements in these areas;
Prepare courses for online, hybrid or face-to-face delivery as circumstance warrant;
Develop and prepare semester-specific syllabi in alignment with officially approved course syllabi;
Maintain courses through the Canvas online course management system (training available); and
Engage in essential instructional functions including holding weekly office hours, grading assignments, and uploading final grades.
Unique Duties:
Qualifications:
Earned Master's degree or Educational Specialist in Education, Teacher Education, or Curriculum & Instruction, with an endorsement or specialization in English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education or a related field;
Minimum of three years of U. S. teaching experience in PK-12 classrooms with English language learners; and
University-level teaching experience, including on-campus, online and hybrid formats.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Bilingual Education, English as Second Language or Curriculum & Instruction;
Experience working in urban, racially and linguistically diverse, and inclusive settings; and
Experience reading, writing and/or speaking bilingually in English/Spanish or English/Arabic.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Bilingual Education, English as Second Language or Curriculum & Instruction; Experience working in urban, racially and linguistically diverse, and inclusive settings; and Experience reading, writing and/or speaking bilingually in English/Spanish or English/Arabic.
