Essential Functions (Job Duties):

Teaching Opportunities

The B.S. & M.S. in Community Health program located in the Division of Kinesiology, Health and Sport Studies in the College of Education at Wayne State University invites applicants to submit applications for part-time faculty (adjunct) positions to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses (up to 8 credit hours). The Community Health program prepares students for careers in the broad fields of community and public health by offering innovative, hands-on coursework and capstone paid and unpaid internships. Students who complete Community Health degrees typically obtain employment in organizations such as, public/private health-related agencies, local/state/national health departments, hospitals, health insurance companies, organizations implementing worksite/corporate wellness programs, a variety of community-based organizations and projects (such as smoking cessation programs, health and cancer associations, substance abuse agencies, community nutrition interventions, HIV/AIDS prevention programs, and injury prevention initiatives), and many more.

Applicants will be reviewed periodically and considered for teaching opportunities as they arise (the need for part-time faculty varies from semester to semester).

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Health Education, Community Health, Public Health or related field.

Minimum of three years of industry experience or three years of teaching experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Community/Public Health professional certifications (e.g., Certified Health Education Specialist –CHES, Master Certified Health Education Specialist –MCHES), certified Health Coach). Evidence of expertise and effectiveness in online instruction.
