We are searching for an experienced Parking Facility Security Attendant 046084 at our Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (Job Duties):

Patrol, monitor and inspect the University's parking facilities, buildings, properties and outdoor areas which may involve walking, accessing parking structure stairwells, operating a motor vehicle and monitoring closed circuit television screens. Respond to two-way radio communication dispatch runs. Enter and exit vehicle to render assistance and service inoperable vehicles (e.g. battery jump, tire inflation, choke lubrication, unlocking vehicles, etc.); check vehicles for proper tagging; inspect functionality of gate mechanisms; check and repair coin collection units; check operability of parking structure elevators and blue light emergency phones.

Monitor functionality of department motor vehicles; transport malfunctioning vehicles to motor pool and/or designated repair shop. Maintain related reports and activity logs of vehicle inspection and mileage. Perform routine maintenance of motor vehicle, i.e. check fluids levels.

Inspect, repair or replace metal and/or wooden parking gate mechanisms; patrol facilities (43 surface lots and 4 structures) to monitor conditions and notify appropriate personnel of damaged or unclean areas as well as abandoned or inoperable vehicles. Collect and transport parking meter funds and repair malfunctioning coin collection units; maintain appropriate repair logs and reports. Participate in emergency relocation of bumper blocks.

Prepare daily activity logs. Maintain and prepare reports on malfunctioning and inoperable equipment. Answer routine questions, provide assistance to University faculty, staff, students and guests, i.e. locate cars, contact parking tow, etc., and notify appropriate Pubic Safety personnel of problems. Perform routine work activities to support day-to-day operations, e.g. receive and deliver interdepartmental mail, paychecks, etc. Provide assistance to student and technician support personnel.

Maintain cleanliness of work area and employee restrooms. Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, tile, metal, chrome, etc.; sweep and mop floors; use sponges, brooms, mops, brushes, etc.; clean up after spills, including human waste, clean mirrors; restock toilet tissues and toweling; access different heights and angles to clean bathroom surfaces. Clean stairwells in structures. Exercise safe methods when working with cleaning supplies and hazardous disinfecting agents.
All Parking Facility Security Attendants are considered to be "Essential Personnel." And unless notified otherwise by management, they are required to report during a university emergency closure period.
Perform related work as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School graduate or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Possession and maintenance of a Michigan Motor Vehicle Chauffeur's license and satisfactory driving record as determined by University policy.

Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Strong human relations skills.

Ability to transport and utilize heavy and awkward equipment in repairing malfunctioning parking gate mechanisms, coin collection units and providing routine service to inoperable vehicles.

Ability to conduct visual and audio surveillance while patrolling, monitoring and inspecting the University's parking facilities, buildings, properties and outdoor areas.

Ability to work in the presence of variations in temperature and atmospheric conditions, i.e. weather.

Ability to work an assigned morning, afternoon or evening shift.

Must obtain security clearance.
