Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Faculty Affairs Specialist at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Oversee all distance learning functions in the College of Nursing. Serve as the subject matter expert for internal and external constituents on all aspects of the Faculty Affairs office and the College of Nursing distance learning initiatives.

Plan, implement and manage operational, personnel and financial activities required to achieve established goals and objectives. Coordinate distance learning functions of the College of Nursing, establish, and maintain collaborative agreements with internal and external constituents and prepare and conduct faculty training sessions on new equipment, supplies, and technologies
Administer the day-to-day operations of the Faculty Affairs office, including providing support for the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Assist with development and administration of research grants and projects, including data collection, the preparation of submittals and the monitoring of budget and expenditures.

Oversee recordkeeping related to the Office of Faculty Affairs and the College of Nursing distance learning activities. Complete related accreditation materials, assist with reports as needed.

Participate in the creation and maintenance of relevant documents and records related to the Office of Faculty Affairs and distance learning.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Bachelor's degree
Graduation from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or other pertinent field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Experience Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to manage pressure situations, including dealing with sensitive and confidential human relations situations. Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Ability to build cooperative, effective relationships and facilitate communication and understanding among professionals.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS: Ability to prepare and present projects with little or no supervision. Ability to independently manage a variety of projects while ensuring appropriate tracking, quality control, follow-up, and multiple deadlines are met.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Effective, professional written and verbal skills, ability to communicate information to and with administration, faculty, colleagues, and external customers. Can understand and communicate complex text. Communicates in writing and verbally in a clear, professional, informative, friendly manner.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in the use of office productivity software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, Banner, CoeusLite, grants.gov, Cognos, internet research.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS: Responds promptly to customer requests for service and assistance. Practices follow-up to ensure customer needs are met.

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Synthesizes diverse information.

PLANNING/ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Prioritizes and plans work activities; adapts for changing conditions. Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals.

INITIATIVE: Must be able to work independently in a highly organized, detail-oriented, fast-paced environment. Takes independent action. Asks questions and utilizes assistance appropriately as needed. Demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.

TEAMWORK: Demonstrated teamwork skills including ability to build consensus, anticipate problems and difficult situations, and develop mutually agreed upon strategies and/or solutions.

FINANCIAL SKILLS: Monitor expenditures, prepare financial reports and statement of financial position, forecast budgets.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS: Analyze accounting, financial or other quantitative data; analyze financial statements or numerical reports; record and maintain bookkeeping or quantitative data; compile statistical data; review and verify data in hardcopy or electronic format; detect errors and discrepancies.
