DEI Program Coordinator
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced DEI Program Coordinator at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Working in conjunction with the Dean’s office, the DEI Program Coordinator will identify, schedule and coordinate seminars, town halls, workshops, events and other programs to highlight and grow the diversity, inclusive culture and equity within the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This individual will implement student, faculty and staff initiatives on behalf of the College’s DEI Committee.

Working in conjunction with the Dean’s office, the DEI Program Coordinator will identify, schedule and coordinate seminars, town halls, workshops, events and other programs to highlight and grow the diversity, inclusive culture and equity within the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. This individual will implement student, faculty and staff initiatives on behalf of the College’s DEI Committee.
- Identify, schedule and provide training/development programs for students, staff and faculty to foster inclusivity, diversity and cultural sensitivity in all areas of the college (teaching, research and service), working with college leadership. This will include:
- Inherent bias training programs (virtual or in person).
- Town hall discussions on DEI for faculty, staff and students featuring designated speaker’s from with the Wayne State Community.
- Identifying DEI training opportunities and events, disseminating this information to staff and faculty through college resources.
- Create training program/seminar content. Able to identify existing resources. Collaborate with other DEI experts and resources across campus. Identify and enlist outside presenters as appropriate.
- Work with the college’s established DEI committee to help implement initiatives as well as facilitate feedback on college activities.
- Identify alumni from diverse backgrounds to present their experiences to the college in fireside chats, interview style formats, either virtual or in person.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in working on DEI initiatives in higher education.
- Experience creating training content and/or coordinating training and learning experiences.
- Pleasant and personable demeanor, able to demonstrate tact, patience and courtesy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
- Solid organizational skills, able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Works independently, able to make program decisions with minimal oversight and direction.
- Critical thinker with strong problem solving skills, able to anticipate issues and identify solutions.
- Detail oriented, able to compare, contrast and quality check work with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
