Job Summary

This position reports to the Associate Program Director of the Music Industry program and will ensure the operation and maintenance of the program facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate with the Associate Program Director and handle scheduling student studio bookings, department events, and workshops; troubleshooting technical issues, updating software, and maintaining and cleaning the studios. They will also assist with managing the schedules of student work-study studio managers. 

Essential Functions
  • Technical Assistance and Troubleshooting
    • Troubleshoot and repair minor broken or malfunctioning technology in studio and lab spaces.
    • Provide routine maintenance for program recording equipment.
    • Assist the Associate Program Director in the planning and installation of recording equipment and audio production software upgrades.
    • Provide technical support to program faculty in the lab facilities and studio classrooms and for for student recording sessions.
  • Studio Scheduling and Event Management
    • Schedule and reserve studio time for student sessions, confirm bookings, and manage the studio calendars as bookings are requested or changed.
    • Assist in coordinating events with outside guests and VIPs to visit campus for studio workshops, Q&As, industry discussion panels, and other events pertinent to the program.
    • Update and manage DragonCard access to provide students with access to studio facilities as needed.
  • Student Employee Management
    • Coordinate schedules for Federal Work Study students to clean, organize, and perform minor troubleshooting as needed.
    • Train students on proper standards and procedures of cleaning and maintaining the studio spaces, including basic troubleshooting techniques and best organizational practices for recording equipment.
  • General Office and Program Management
    • Be a supportive face for the program’s main working space, interfacing with students and faculty regarding questions, concerns, or necessary redirections to other staff (Academic Advisor, Department Administrator, etc.).
    • Order and maintain supplies for office, classrooms, and faculty.
    • Submit work order requests for classrooms and studio spaces.
    • Schedule and be present for package deliveries and other equipment moves.
    • Assist in open house and other prospective student events, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Technology or related field or Equivalent .
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting audio recording hardware.
  • Experience operating Logic Audio, Ableton, and Pro Tools software.
  • Experience installing and configuring software applications on Apple Mac operating systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and skills related to audio recording technology, event management, and use of basic and specialized computer applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite systems.
  • Experience in a collegiate or professional studio setting.
  • Prior managerial and scheduling experience.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, stoop.
