Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose

The Office of New Student Orientation seeks a dynamic and committed professional to assist the Associate Director of New Student Orientation with the planning and execution of orientation programs that support the transition of first-year and transfer students, as well as family members, to the University. Through the use of the Noel-Levitz CSI survey, and other assessment instruments, this professional will differentiate the needs of incoming students and assist them with connecting to specific student service offices that support their success at Wayne State University.

Essential Functions

Assist in the planning and execution of the fall, spring and summer orientation programs and other programs which support the transition of students into college.

Assist the Associate Director in the selection and training of approximately 30 student orientation leaders.

Attend all orientation sessions to oversee activities and ensure details are handled as planned.

Manage a marketing and promotion plan for orientation programs, including the development of publicity materials, web content, and other correspondence. Coordinate mailings of promotional materials and orientation invitations, and help direct the logistical communications plan.

Work with various student success departments coordinating special projects such as Pre-­Orientation activities, Welcome Week activities, assessment tools and instruments, and first semester support.

Collaborate with various departments and organizations within the University and surrounding Detroit area.

Assist with the preparation of year-end reports, providing analysis and recommendations for future actions and improvements.

Serve on university committees as assigned.

Position requires incumbent to work some evenings and weekends.

Perform related duties as assigned.
