Job Description
The Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) department at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines), is hiring for a Program Assistant I.

CBE offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and serves the mission of the institution through educational and research support to approximately 546 undergraduate and 96 graduate students. CBE also provides support to approximately 30 academic faculty, along with a number of research faculty, adjunct faculty, graduate teaching fellows, and visiting scholars and serves as a liaison to the administration, outside industry, and other groups who play a role in supporting the mission of the institution.

Our open Program Assistant I position will assist with student programming support for undergraduate and graduate students including employment contracts, tracking and approval of hourly timesheets, tradeshow displays, graduate student recruiting, campus visits, assisting with application process and tracking, submitting fellowship awards including paperwork and processing, general department correspondence, and undergraduate research processes. Additionally, this position will provide general office support, including report writing, overseeing and supervising student employees, public relations including the creation of marketing newsletters for the department, assisting in departmental fundraising activities, managing departmental web presence and event planning.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • At minimum, four years of experience in professional administrative support, project or program coordination, or office-based customer service role. OR;
  • A bachelor’s degree or additional post-secondary education from an accredited institution in business management, communications, marketing, English, the humanities or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous state experience in front office administration, direct customer service, or service navigation is highly preferred
  • Previous experience working with Workday or other applicant tracking systems is preferred
  • Prior experience working in a Higher Educational setting is preferred
  • Bilingual ability both written and spoken is a plus!

Pay Range

$24.54 - $26.00 Hourly
