The Intersectionality in the Social Mind Lab at Haverford College invites applications for our full-time (at least 37.5 hours per week), benefits-eligible Postdoctoral A ssociate in Psychology opportunity.
This position is offered for an initial one-year, fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of an additional year contingent upon successful performance in the position. The preferred start date is July 1, 2023. The Postdoctoral Associate will oversee an NSF-funded project that takes an intersectional perspective on children’s social categorization.
Primary Responsibilities
The postdoctoral associate will facilitate all aspects of the funded research project, including but not limited to:
- interviewing adults, preschoolers, and school-age children
- collecting and analyzing data from large-scale surveys
- creating and maintaining community partnerships;
- designing testing instruments for both adults and children
- supporting the lab coordinator in training and supervising undergraduate research assistants
- cultivating a strong lab team culture and orientation
- fostering a high degree of professionalism among lab members
Line of Report: The Postdoctoral Associate in Psychology reports directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the lab.
Work Location: This position is located at Haverford College, in Haverford, PA. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, pursuant to the College’s Work Location Policy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in psychology or a related field within cognitive science with at least some relevant research experience with children. Candidates who are ABD may be considered in specific circumstances.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with statistical analysis (especially in R)
- Programming in Javascript
- Prior experience providing support in a lab environment
- Prior experience conducting research with children
- Possession of a valid U.S. Drivers’ License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
- Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 153 background checks
