POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for working with Veterans Affairs and ensuring South University remains in compliance with rules and regulations. Incumbent must assure that the Company philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and an environment that is conducive to innovation, positive thinking, and expansion is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
This position is responsible for working with Veterans Affairs and ensuring South University remains in compliance with rules and regulations. Incumbent must assure that the Company philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and an environment that is conducive to innovation, positive thinking, and expansion is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
KEY JOB
ELEMENTS:
- Verifies student educational benefits and certifies accurately and timely on VA-ONCE
- Monitor students course load and grades to ensure compliance with VA regulations; reports status changes that affect student eligibility for VA benefits; review bi-weekly Post Cert report, and report changes within the compliance guidelines set forth by the VA.
- Keep up to date on current VA rules and benefits: Attend all required training including monthly VA virtual office hours and required annual Training. Read and maintain VA bulletins
- Responsible for maintaining records of VA students for at least three years following the student's last date of attendance; ensuring all required documents are on file/complete. A schools file for a VA student should contain: Copies of all VA paperwork; The school’s transcript, grade reports, drop slips, registration slips (for those courses dropped during drop/add), transcripts from previous schools with evaluations of same, students school application, records of disciplinary action, program outline (to track proper courses taken), etc.
- Maintain copies of appropriate application forms. When requested, help veterans and dependents fill out and send in applications
- Apprise supervisors of any internal problems that may affect service to VA students.
- Assist with review and processing of Debt letters received from the VA
- Audits student files at initial enrollment, throughout their attendance and at graduation to ensure 100% compliance
- Complete initial School Certifying Official training through the VA and maintain a minimum number of training hours each year
- Other Duties as Assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Knowledge:
- Associate Degree or Minimum of 2+ years of Financial Aid or enrollment experience in a strong customer service setting with an emphasis on Military students
- Previous experience working with people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Experience in MS Office and database usage
