JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Well-Being Officer (CWO) is a newly created, senior leadership position that will provide institutional expertise and vision to the development and implementation of a comprehensive and holistic enterprise-wide well-being strategy to support the development of knowledge, skills, and confidence of students and employees to invest in lifelong health. In partnership with on- and off-campus stakeholders, the CWO will be responsible for aligning, promoting, and expanding well-being initiatives, building stronger coalitions, and enhancing impact and service to all Clemson students, faculty, and staff online and at the main and innovation campuses and differing communities across the state. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Strategic Planning and Execution: Coordinate and collaborate effectively with all sectors of the University and its community. Develop, adopt, and execute a comprehensive long-range Well-Being Strategic Plan and accompanying infrastructure aligned with Clemson s land-grant mission and institutional strategic priorities. Coordinate planning and execution in partnership with the Office of Institutional Excellence ensuring integration and alignment with ClemsonElevate. Cultivate effective collaborative practices with internal and external partners (e.g., civic, corporate, philanthropic) and stakeholders to support strategic objectives. Maximize accessibility to well-being education, tools, and services. Develop and recommend appropriate policy and procedure revisions related to student and employee well-being. Actively seek to influence, build effective relationships, and gain alignment with peers, functional partners, and/or external stakeholders to accomplish strategic objectives.
40% - Essential - Leadership, Advocacy and Communication: Provide transformational/visionary leadership for all stakeholders that ensures an enterprise-wide approach to well-being. Serve as a key advisor to the president, the Executive Leadership Team, and other officers/leaders on matters of well-being. Create and lead a cross-functional advisory group of current and future subject-matter experts to create and promote a culture and infrastructure of well-being, focusing on a proactive and preventative approach, that illustrates Clemson s commitment to the well-being of its increasingly diverse population. Engage key communication leaders and execute widespread promotion of the enterprise-wide well-being strategy. Serve on and engage relevant university, community and professional committees and task forces. Identify and develop key strategic partnerships with external organizations interested in health promotion and well-being programming and/or research support. Serve as a strategic leader and advocate helping empower stakeholders across the enterprise to remove barriers and execute initiatives that will have positive outcomes for all.
20% - Essential - Measurement, Assessment and Reporting: Analyze data to identify trends and gaps within and across populations, and translate data into knowledge that promotes well-being. Identify, implement, monitor, and report on key metrics and performance indicators to communicate accountability, measure the success of strategic initiatives, and promote continuous improvement. Assess productivity and success of programs, policies, and services. Leverage data from organizational health and well-being assessments and research to achieve the desired future state outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Master's Degree - Health promotion, higher education administration, or related field
Work Exp 10+ years in health promotion or related fields; proven ability to effectively engage with large and diverse audiences, drive strategy and results, and demonstrated record of collaborative leadership in a complex organization.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree - Health promotion, higher education administration, or related field
RESPONSIBILITIES:
