Job Summary
The Video Production coordinator supports daily production efforts for D1 athletics broadcasts, in-house and remote operations, and participates in all aspects of multicamera production as a producer/director.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators
The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution
- Works with the Director of Operations and Engineering, Sports Production Manager, and Production Manager, and Broadcast Operations Specialist to ensure that all pre-production concerns (e.g., scheduling, staffing, and production elements) have been appropriately addressed prior to shoots
- Supports content readiness for academic and athletic productions
- Supports live multicamera productions, such as athletics broadcasts, in accordance with supplied scripts/rundowns
- Occupies control room roles (e.g., technical director, audio, and camera shading) as needed
- Assists in training student operators in control room and field during live broadcasts
- Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
- Models, supports and holds others accountable to the University’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork
- Actively takes pride in work, which is evident by demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to effectively prioritize objectives, take decisive action, and effectively communicate revised procedures to a large group of individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Ability to engage in active listening to appropriately assess crew needs and production issues.
- Communicates with network master control and program loggers during live production
Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications with emphasis in broadcast communications or a related field.
- Familiarity with all aspects of multicamera video production
- Ability to supervise and effectively collaborate with large groups (comprised of individuals from diverse communities and cultures) toward a common purpose
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing plans
- General office setting
- Availability to work multiple nights and weekends
- Indoor studio, control rooms, and adjoining theater spaces
- Outdoor camera positions and remote athletics facilities in all weathers
- Stamina to move equipment, assemble setups, and run cable as required
- Ability to stand or sit for extended time periods
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolds, and/or elevated platforms
- Ability to lift 70 pounds
- Regular punctual attendance is a necessary and essential function
