The Office of the Provost invites applications for a Budget Analyst III to provide financial support to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Franke Global Leadership Initiative and Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President.

The core responsibilities associated with this position are listed as follows:
  • Build, analyze, and reconcile state, designated, auxiliary and grant budgets.
  • Regularly provide accurate financial reports to directors to use for reporting, planning, and decision-making.
  • Track department revenue and expenses.
  • Check accuracy of figures, calculations, and spending by departments.
  • Complete hiring paperwork and payroll entry.
  • Assist department staff with accounts payable, pro-card management, travel paperwork, requisitions for contracted service agreements and supplies, expenditure approvals, billing models, and deposits.
  • Manage office financial records.
  • Serve as a liaison between VPAA departments and the Human Resources and Business Services offices.
In addition to supporting VPAA, this position will support the Office of the Provost in the below ways:
  • Collecting, entering, and recording payroll.
  • Tracking pro-card (company credit card) receipts, pro-card redistribution, and maintaining a consistent pro-card procedure.
  • Assist department staff with accounts payable, pro-card management, travel paperwork, requisitions for contracted service agreements and supplies, expenditure approvals, billing models, and deposits.
  • Assist center directors with developing their budgets for annual center review.
  • Assist faculty members with Board of Regents’ Fiscal Analysis Forms for new program proposals that can occur up to once a month.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional budget management practices and accounting principles.
  • Experience applying professional budget management practices and procedures and accounting principles.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills, and ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
Minimum Required Experience
  • High School diploma and two (2) years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and two (2) years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Details

Position Title: Budget Analyst III

Position Number: 006820

Department: Office of the Provost

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year,

Salary: $23.435/hr Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
